Abraham "Abe" Schiebout

October 28, 1928 — April 29, 2015

ABRAHAM 'ABE' SCHIEBOUT was born on October 28, 1928 to Herman and Jennie (De Groot) Schiebout in Ireton, Iowa. He was raised in the Ireton area and attended the Ireton Christian School. He was baptized and confirmed in the Ireton Christian Reformed Church. Abe served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. On July 22, 1953, he was united in marriage to Hermina Brinks. The couple had four children. They farmed seven years in Ireton and 10 years in Rock Rapids, Iowa. They then moved to Pipestone, Minnesota where they farmed until 1983 when they moved into Pipestone and he worked as a farm laborer for area farmers until 1993. In 1994, he became employed by New Horizon Farms until his retirement in 2006. On April 15, 2015, he entered the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Then, on April 27, 2015 was transferred to the Pipestone County Hospice House where he died on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at the age of 86 years, six months and one day.

Abe served on the Christian School board and the church council in Rock Rapids. He enjoyed reading and an active social life including the time spent with his good friend Evie Blankers and his long-time McDonald’s friends. He was an avid Minnesota Twins and Timberwolves fan. He especially loved playing with and caring for his grandkids.

Left to cherish his memory are his four children, Lynette (Steve) Blom of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Randall (Luann) Schiebout of Pipestone, Lyle (Karla) Schiebout of Trosky, Minnesota and Jay (Sandy) Schiebout of Pipestone; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Geraldine Van Voorst of Sioux Center, Iowa, Lena (Clarence) Vander Laan of Orange City, Iowa and Adrianna (Gene) Ruisch of LeMars, Iowa; four brothers, Ben Schiebout and Chris (Ila) Schiebout, both of Orange City, Herman (Betty) Schiebout of Denver, Colorado and Bill (Sue) Schiebout of Loveland, Colorado; two sisters-in-law, Henrietta Brinks of Worthington, Minnesota and Georgiann Holtrop of Sheldon, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hermina; his parents; two brothers, Ferd and Hank Schiebout; and two sisters, Johanna Krull and Ann Van Bruggen.
