Ann Feikema

May 8, 1921 — November 2, 2014

ANN FEIKEMA was born on May 8, 1921 in Wilmont, Minnesota to Peter and Jennie (Bos) Van Velzen. When she was a young girl, her family moved to Sioux Falls, SD where Ann attended Sioux Falls Public Schools. Following her education, she worked at John Morrell and Company in Sioux Falls. On January 25, 1944, Ann married Clarence Feikema in the Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Falls. The couple lived on a farm Northeast of Renner, SD until they moved to their current family farm in Luverne, MN on March 1, 1950. Here Clarence and Ann established their home and raised their four sons. Ann remained busy everyday helping on the farm, tending to her garden, keeping up with the dairy, and providing many meals to her family and those that worked during the planting and harvest seasons. She loved the animals on the farm and always extended her best hospitality to anyone that visited the farm place. In 1980, she and Clarence moved into Luverne. Clarence preceded her in death on January 13, 2001. The couple was blessed with over 56 years of life together. Ann continued to reside in Luverne. On Sunday, November 2, 2014, while at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage surrounded by family, Ann went to be with her Lord at the age of 93 years, 5 months and 25 days.

Ann was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Luverne where she was active in Ladies Aid and the Women’s Missionary Union. She loved to help at the Bibles for Mission thrift shop in Worthington, MN. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, bowling league and watching sports.

Ann is lovingly remembered by her four sons, John and Linda Feikema of Orange City, IA, Robert “Bob” and Arla Feikema of Luverne, Charles “Chuck” and Char Feikema of Luverne, and Ron Feikema of Luverne; her grandchildren, Paul and Joi Feikema of Minneapolis, MN, Jodi and Bryan Peterson of Huntley, MT, Chad and Heather Feikema of Hastings, MN, Michele and Monte Van Dyke of Luverne, Sheri Van Otterloo of Sioux Falls, Shawn and Becky Feikema of Luverne, Mike and Stacy Feikema of Luverne, Ross and Lisa Feikema of Seoul, South Korea and Jessica and Jason Porter of Canton, SD; 25 great-grandchildren; her sister, Jennie (Art) Getting of Sioux Falls; and her two sisters-in-law, Minnie Van Velzen of Grand Haven, MI and Bea Van Velzen of Sioux Falls; and other family.
