Barton Perrizo

September 19, 1925 — January 16, 2013

BARTON EUGENE PERRIZO was born to Clarence Leo and Marie Olga (Ludtke) Perrizo on September 19, 1925 in Pipestone, Minnesota. He was raised in Jasper, Minnesota where he also attended school. After his graduation from Jasper High School in 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, attended flight school in Pensacola, Florida, and served during World War II. After his discharge from the service on September 28, 1945 he continued his education at the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota and the University of Minnesota Dental School. On September 14, 1949 he was united in marriage to Marian Patricia Larsen at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. Following their marriage, Doc joined his father’s dental practice in Jasper in 1951. Marian preceded him in death on April 13, 1983. After her death, he continued to live and work in Jasper. In 2001, he retired and closed his dental office. Then ,in 2009, he became a resident of the Jasper Sunrise Village. In September 2011 he entered Southridge Healthcare in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he died on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the age of 87 years, three months, and 27 days.

Doc was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper where he was baptized and confirmed. He was a member of the Oscar Iverson American Legion Post, the Jasper Civic Club and the Jasper Fire Department. He served for over 25 years on the Jasper School Board, and also volunteered his time with the Jasper Development Association. He also spent 49 years as the scoreboard operator for Jasper High School basketball. He enjoyed gardening, and especially enjoyed golfing. He had a unique sense of humor, and he liked to visit with people.

He is lovingly remembered by his four children, Michael B. Perrizo and Pat Brennan of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Janna M. McConnell and her husband Tim of Witchita, Kansas; Patricia A. Hurd and Neil Otey of Woodbury, Minnesota; and Gregory B. Perrizo of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He also had two grandchildren Seth and Erin Hurd. He is preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and his brother, Marvin.
