Dona Hanson

August 3, 1935 — February 16, 2018

DONA JEAN HANSON was born August 3, 1935 to Donald and Bertha (Clausen) Tripp in Howard, South Dakota. She grew up in Howard where she was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church, and graduated from Howard High School in 1953. She enrolled in Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Yankton, South Dakota graduating in 1956. On August 18, 1956, Dona married Lyle Hanson at Bethany Lutheran Church. Their union was blessed with three children and 61 years of life together. Dona was a registered nurse at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota (1956-1958), Madison Hospital in Madison, South Dakota (1958-1961), Morris Hospital in Morris, Minnesota (1961-1965), and at Tyler Healthcare Center in Tyler, Minnesota from 1966 until her retirement in 2007. On Friday, February 16, 2018 Dona died at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 82.

Dona was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Tyler where she was a member of the Evening Circle, sang in the choir, and had served as secretary and vice-president of WELCA. She was part of a bridge club, played piano, liked reading and playing golf, where she especially enjoyed the 19th Hole. She loved spending time with friends and family, and having a glass of wine. Dona was extremely proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Dona is lovingly remembered by her husband, Lyle; her children, Doug (Sheryl) of Buffalo, WY, Lisa (Steve) Steinhouse of Sioux Falls, SD, and Cheryl (Todd) Neuberger of Sioux Falls, SD; 8 grandchildren, Mike (Kari) Hanson, Teresa Hanson, Amber (Todd) Meulebroeck, Nathan (Rudi) Neuberger, Matt Steinhouse, Andy Steinhouse, Kaity (Jason) Barker, and Karly Neuberger,; 12 great-grandchildren, Conner, McKenzie, Caidynce, Kennedy, Carma, Horizon, Augustine, Daxton, Cora, Journey, Jace, Adrianna; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Tripp, sister Mary Johnson, nephew David, and niece Judy.
