Elsie Hagberg

August 15, 1916 — August 1, 2013

Elsie Hagberg was born August 15, 1916 to John and Elizabeth (Smook) Lingbeck on their farm near Adrian, Minnesota. She grew up on the farm and attended country school. Following her country school education she helped on the family farm. On May 1, 1935 Elsie married Raymond Hagberg at the Methodist Church in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Their union was blessed with six children and 70 years of life together. The couple began farming in the Rushmore, Minnesota area. They then moved to Worthington and later returned to farming at Fulda and Balaton, Minnesota. In 1976 they retired from farming and two years later moved into Tyler, Minnesota. Ray was diagnosed with cancer in November 2004 and died on October 6, 2005. Elsie continued to live at her home, where on Thursday, August 1, 2013 she died fifteen days before her 97th birthday.

Elsie was a member of Danebod Lutheran Church, where she was baptized. She enjoyed walking, fishing, traveling, family events, collecting bells, working outside mowing the grass and gardening, and caring for the home. She especially enjoyed time with her family.

Elsie is lovingly remembered by her children, Marlene Wajer of Slayton, Minnesota, Virgil Hagberg and his wife Carrie of Brookings, South Dakota, Duane Hagberg and his wife Marilyn of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Judy Herron and her husband Gary of Lakeville, Minnesota, and Linda Ribordy of Meredith, Mexico; son-in-law Milt Voss of Ruthton, Minnesota; 23 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 5 step-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
