Erma Wagenaar

ERMA IRENE WAGENAAR was born on September 26, 1940 to John and Edith (Klaassen) Klaassen on the farm southeast of Ellsworth, Minnesota of Lyon County, Iowa. She was raised on the farm and attended country school through the eighth grade. She later attended and completed her high school education in Little Rock, Iowa. Erma then moved to Virginia where she worked in hospital. She later returned to the area and a resident in Rock Rapids, Iowa, where she worked at the hospital. On January 29, 1965, Erma was united in marriage to Ubbe Wagenaar at the Salem Reformed Church in Little Rock, Iowa. The couple made their home on Ubbe’s farm and raised their three children along with farming the land.

On Friday, November 25, 2011 Erma passed away peacefully at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage in Luverne, Minnesota at the age of 71 years, one month, and 29 days.

Erma is lovingly remembered by her husband of 47 years, Ubbe; two sons, Byron and Paul of rural Adrian; daughter, Janene of Aurora, MO; six siblings, Helena Sprock of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Ruth (Albertus) Van Westen of Luverne, Alma De Buhr of Sioux Falls, SD, Alfred (LaVonne) Klaassen of Luverne, Lois Snitselaar of Livermore, CA, and John Klaassen, Jr. of Sioux Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edith Klaassen; five siblings, Harmon Klaassen, Raymond Klaassen, Esther Klinkenborg, Paul Klaassen, and Ronald Klaassen.

Funeral arrangements are through the Hartquist Funeral Home - Engebretson Chapel in Luverne.
