Harriet Van Peursem

HARRIET VAN PEURSEM...

was born to Pete and Nina (Schelhaas) Mulder on October 12, 1930 in Edgerton, Minnesota. As a young child, she went to Edgerton Christian grade school. Upon completion of her education, she worked at Jolinks Bakery and Hans Vander Pol’s Red Owl Store. On October 12, 1949, she was united in marriage to Elmer Van Peursem at the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton. Their first 10 years of marriage they lived on a farm near Leota, Minnesota. In 1959, they moved to Pipestone, Minnesota where she worked at Blom Jewelers, Luksik Drug and the Thoughtfulness Shop. On July 17, 1996, Elmer preceded her in death. In 2011, she moved to Ridgeview Estates in Pipestone. Then, on January 6, 2012, she became a resident of Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton. She died there on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at the age of 84 years and 14 days.

Harriet was an active member of the Pipestone Christian Reformed Church. She enjoyed camping, quilting and embroidering.

She is lovingly remembered by her five children, Rodney Van Peursem and his wife Hyon Chin of Boise, Idaho, LaVonne Blom and her husband Allen of Pipestone, Minnesota, Diane Westphal and her husband Gary of Alexandria, Minnesota, Russell Van Peursem and his wife Kathy of Denver, Colorado and Steven Van Peursem and his wife Sherri of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three brothers, Rolland Mulder of Rock Valley, Iowa, Alvin Mulder and his wife Evelyn of Edgerton, Minnesota and Robert Mulder and his wife Beverly of Sheboygan, Wisconsin; and two sisters, Rena Tinklenberg of Edgerton, Minnesota and Rose Reinike and her husband Dean of Madison, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one grandson, Kyle Westphal; one daughter-in-law, Marlys Van Peursem; one sister, Sharon Stutzman; one sister-in-law, Johanna Mae Mulder; and brother-in-law, Harris Tinklenberg.
