Laura "Louise" Hunter

October 9, 1930 — May 24, 2017

LAURA 'LOUISE' HUNTER was born on October 9, 1930 to Fred and Laura (Foley) Wollmuth on a farm in Pipestone County in Pipestone, Minnesota. She spent her childhood on the farm with memories of playing kick the can and hide and seek with siblings, homemade ice cream on the fourth of July, and learning the value of hard work with plenty of chores to keep them busy. She attended primary school in nearby Luverne, Pipestone and Hatfield. She went to high school in Pipestone, graduating in 1949. Louise married Elmer Hunter on January 14, 1950 at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Pipestone, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Luverne. Laura held a variety of jobs from the Hollyhock Ballroom, Gannon’s Restaurant in Pipestone, cleaning houses, and working at Long’s Caf in Luverne before starting Hunter Printing with Elmer in 1969 which they operated until 2005. The couple also managed the Eagles from 1970-1979 and the VFW from 1979-1988. Louise continued to work as the gambling bookkeeper from 2001 until the time of her death. On Wednesday, May 24, 2017 Louise died peacefully at Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage at the age of 86 years, 7 months and 15 days.

Louise was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne. She enjoyed reading mystery and romance novels. She loved to be with her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren. Her advice to them was to get all the education you can.

Louise is lovingly remembered by her children, David (Gloria) Hunter of Nebis, Minnesota, Laurie Hunter of Luverne, Dale (Susan) Hunter of Shakopee, Minnesota, Patrick (Jolene) Hunter of Shakopee; four grandchildren, Brandon, Christopher, Rachel and Dan; six great-grandchildren, Dylan, Victoria, Serenity, Jaxson, Phoenix and Cadance; and two sisters, Janet VanderPlaats of Hatfield and Dorothy Loger of Luverne.
