Nicholas Wieme

January 28, 1989 — December 13, 2012

NICHOLAS ANDREW WIEME was born to Bernard and Kathleen (Wise) Wieme on January 28, 1989 at Pipestone County Medical Center in Pipestone, Minnesota. He was baptized and confirmed at Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone. He attended Pipestone Area Schools where from elementary through his senior year the arts were his love and passion. He and his theatre (One Act Play) friends several times qualified for state level competition. Nick was also involved in golf and tennis and was, somehow, even able to show some of his natural “theatrics” during heated competitions. But his true love was to entertain. He was always smiling and making everyone around him smile. After graduating from Pipestone High School in 2007, Nick attended Minnesota State University - Moorhead where he showed his movie directing and filming skills. It was during his college years he became interested in stand-up comedy. He was soon a well-known and respected comedian in and around the Fargo-Moorhead area. Like everything else, Nick gave it all he had and signed up for stand-up competition in the Twin Cities. He did not win, but in true Nick style, he only interpreted that to mean, “I just have to try a little harder”.

Nicholas had a love for music. He took piano lessons as a child, played saxophone in middle school band and participated in the PAS choir. In college, Nick taught himself to play guitar. He loved to read and spent time each day reading. He also had a passion for helping others. While attending college and doing stand-up, he worked at a home for special needs adults. While he was busy with this, he still found time to fill sand bags during the flood of 2009 although, he did admit, it was a good way to get out of class.

Nick was always full steam ahead and looking forward to the next thing. After only three and a half years at MSUM, Nick graduated with an English major and Chicago in his sights.

In January 2011, Nick’s interests shifted from stand-up comedy to improv-theatre. He enrolled, took classes, and performed at the Improv Olympic (among other venues) in downtown Chicago and within two years became known as a talented, well-respected artist who had a knack for unintentionally stealing the show. During those two years Nick “paid the bills” by working at a hotel, Barnes & Nobles, and recently took a job working at Guaranteed Mortgage Company.

Nick (Nic, Nickerdoodle, Bro, Uncle Nick, Wiemslice) will forever be remembered by his parents, Bernie and Casey Wieme of Pipestone, Minnesota; his “big” brothers, Jamie of Omaha, Nebraska and Patrick of Minneapolis, Minnesota; sister-in-law, Michelle of Omaha, Nebraska; precious niece Maci; Grandma Wise (Marilyn Wise) of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Grandpa Wieme (Andrew Wieme) of Marshall, Minnesota; and countless uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Nick was preceded in death by Grandma Wieme (Irene Wieme); Grandad (Richard Wise); Aunt Gloria (Gloria Wieme); Uncle Dick (Richard Wieme) and cousin (Roman Wieme).
