Rodney "Rj" Falk

Rodney “RJ” Falk was born to Roger and Delores “Toodie” Falk on March 28, 1955 in Pipestone, MN. He attended grade school in Jasper, MN and graduated from Jasper High School. He obtained a degree from Winona Vocational school in small engine repair and attended Waseca Community College where he played football. He returned to Jasper and served in the National Guard from 1976 – 1981. During these years, he also worked in different fields related to the outdoors until he purchased his own property in 1987 achieving his life-long dream of farming and cattle ranching. In addition to farming and ranching, he also worked full-time in heavy equipment construction. RJ died suddenly on Friday, December 1, 2017, at the age of 62 years, eight months, and 4 days.

RJ depended on his Mom for help with day to day activities during the day while he was working, including running errands, checking cows/calves, and spoiling the dog. RJ never went hungry thanks to Mom’s home-cooking. RJ always credited Jimmy DeBates who worked with him for several years and said “Jimmy knows cattle!” RJ also trained several cattle dogs with all of them named starting with a “Z”.

RJ had a passion for playing competitive softball so he really enjoyed when his nieces grew up and he got to watch them play. He inherited his father’s loyalty to the Chicago Bears, and like him, stuck with “da-Bears” through thick and thin.

RJ was a big man with a heart to match and the family feels that the last 10 years with him has been more than fulfilling. He loved giving all the nieces and nephews a tough time, telling them jokes and giving them nicknames like ‘Duckboat’ and ‘Crowbait.’ He educated us all on farming and ranching through his “RJ Spielberg” videos. RJ would want you all to remember “Beef. It’s What’s for Dinner!”

With RJ’s sudden passing – if we inadvertently omitted from his lifetime story please forgive us. RJ would not want anyone to feel as though they weren’t important to him.

RJ is survived by his mother, Toodie of Jasper; his sisters, Janet Winter of St. Louis, Missouri, Jeanne Padilla of Austin, Texas, Polly and her husband Daryl 'Hoogie' Hoogeveen of Larchwood, Iowa; nine nieces and nephews; 12 great nieces and nephews; and many other loving friends and family members. RJ was preceded in death by his father, Roger; and his brother-in-law, Jerry Winter.

Memorials are preferred to the Jasper Fire Department or the Jasper Ambulance Service.
