Sandi Toresdahl

SHIRLEY 'SANDI' TORESDAHL was born to Hiram and Dora (Bittbenner) Toresdahl on December 28, 1934 in Pipestone, Minnesota, where she was raised and attended school. After her graduation from Pipestone High School in 1952, she began working at Ashton Memorial Hospital in Pipestone. One year later, she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she began working at First National Bank and later Prudential Insurance. In 1962, she moved to Chicago, Illinois and worked in several accounting positions, advancing to controller with Columbian Lithographing. She was convinced to enter college, majoring in accounting. Her final requirement was a computer course which ended her accounting career and began her computer career. With only 12 hours left to complete in college, she quit school and began working as a consultant and software designer for HR Industry. Her forte was accounting software, and she traveled 45 weeks each year to businesses throughout the United States. Her final project was managing and coordinating the installation of software in all International Paper Company container plants in the U.S. After living in Chicago for 30 years, she retired in Pipestone, Minnesota. On December 3, 2013, Sandi died at her home in Pipestone at the age of 78 years, 11 months and six days.

Sandi was a member of First Lutheran Church in Pipestone where she was also a member of the church circle. She enjoyed gardening, spending time at the public library, and visiting with her friends, both old and new. She especially enjoyed traveling, and she made many independent trips and cruises to Europe, Asia, New Zealand and Australia.

She is lovingly remembered by her many friends. She was preceded in death by her her parents.
