Tammi Vannoort

TAMMI ROSE VANNOORT was born to Thomas and Nina (Lofton) Heit on March 18, 1971 in Brighton, Colorado. She was raised in the Denver Colorado area and moved to Iowa in 1992 at the age of 21. She became employed at Coil Craft, Inc. in Hawarden and was in charge of quality control.

On April 10, 1997, she was united in marriage to Teri VanNoort. Following their marriage, they lived in several towns in Northwest Iowa. While living in that area, she did bartending and waitressing and had also been employed at Wells Blue Bunny in LeMars, Iowa. She later met Kenny Poppema in Inwood, Iowa and they moved to Texas in 2013. They recently moved to Holland, Minnesota and she was currently employed at Bomgaars.

Over the past 15 years, she had been faced with numerous health issues and recently was admitted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She died there on Thursday evening, December 1, 2016 at the age of 45 years, eight months and 13 days.

Tammi was baptized in the Catholic faith. At the age of 42, she joined the Cyprus Trails United Methodist Church in Spring, Texas where she became very active in Bible studies as well as retreats. Tammi enjoyed fishing and cooking. She liked all music in general, especially hard rock music in her younger years and later jazz and country music. She loved nature and being outdoors, going hiking on trails and to the botanical gardens. She also loved dancing and hanging out with her two boys.

She is survived by her husband, Kenny Poppema of Holland, Minnesota; two sons, Dane and Austin, both of Inwood, Iowa; her former husband, Teri Van Noort of Inwood; her mother, Nina Burbank of Denver, Colorado; her father, Tom Heit of Westminster, Colorado; one brother, Tim and his wife Katie Heit of Denver, Colorado; and one half-sister, Angela Burbank of Denver. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Frank and Marie Elizabeth Lilly; paternal grandparents; and one uncle, Frank.
