William "Bill" Munsch

May 10, 1930 — March 5, 2017

WILLIAM CHRISTOPHER MUNSCH, JR. was born on May 10, 1930, to William, Sr. and Julia (Wooley) Munsch in Remsen, Iowa. As a child he moved with his family to Russell, MN and then Lake Benton, MN, where he attended country school first, and then Lake Benton High School. For his final year of high school he attended Ivanhoe High School, graduating in 1948. On July 23, 1958, Bill was united in marriage to Edwina Kletscher in Ivanhoe, Minnesota and the two were blessed with four children. After their marriage the couple lived with Bill's parents and farmed with them for five years. At that time they bought a farm near Holland, Minnesota. In 1972, they moved to Pipestone and lived there until 1975, when they bought a farm near Ruthton, Minnesota where they lived until the couple was divorced. In 1994, Bill moved into a home in Pipestone and resided there until July of 2013, when he entered into the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone. On Wednesday, March 1, 2017, Bill entered the Pipestone County Medical Center under acute hospice care and died peacefully there on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the age of 86 years, nine months, and 25 days.
Bill was a member of St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone. During his spare time Bill could be found tinkering on the farm, fixing things, or working in his garden. He also loved the Minnesota Twins and watched as many games as he could. Bill also loved to dance, his favorite was the waltz. As he got older, he enjoyed watching polka programs on TV and hanging out with his little dog, Skippy. Family gatherings and reunions were cherished by Bill; he loved getting together and spending time with them.
Bill is lovingly remembered by his four children, Patty (significant other, Bobbie Doerr) Munsch of Pipestone, Pam (Izak “Ammie”) Breyl of Warner, South Dakota, Karen Munsch of Fairmont, Minnesota, and David Munsch of Hutchinson, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Calvin Olson, Miranda Ristau, and Isabella “Izzy” Munsch; and two sisters, Lucille Muchlinski of Marshall, Minnesota, and Eunice Kinsman of Nokomis, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Julia Bainbridge, Eleanor Peterson, and Marvel Bartelt; and one brother, Gene Munsch.
