ALISON LORRAINE BAKER named after her great-grandmothers, Alice Pieper and Lorraine Asmus, was born to Jesse and Alissa (Asmus) Baker on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at 1:15 a.m. at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was immediately baptized and lived for a short time, never leaving the arms of her family, before being welcomed into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ. We rest assured in His forgiveness and deliverance and the hope of eternal life.

Alison was born with mommy’s facial features and with limbs, fingers and toes that continued for days that could only have come from her daddy. She was born with her head already filling in with blonde hair and fingernails almost ready to be clipped! One of Alison’s cutest features were her ears as they were so thin and had looked as if they had just detached a day or two prior! Her eyes were still fused together, but most likely were beautiful blue in color.

Due to complications resulting from her amniotic sac passing through the cervix, Alison was born at 21 weeks and three days. Her beautiful lungs were underdeveloped and interventions were not possible. She was 9 ½ inches, 12.2 ounces and very loved.

A special thanks to the team at Avera-McKennan Hospital as they made this extremely difficult time a little easier. We are also forever grateful to the wonderful nurses and doctors who cared for our beautiful baby, Alison Lorraine Baker. Their loving care and compassion for us and our child will never be forgotten.

Alison is lovingly survived by her parents, Jesse and Alissa Baker of Hardwick, Minnesota; paternal grandparents, Steve and Chery Baker of Lino Lakes, Minnesota; maternal grandparents, Aaron and Lisa Asmus of Sioux Falls; four uncles and one aunt, John Baker, Andrew Asmus, Jason Baker, and Adam (Vania) Asmus; and four great-grandparents, Hugh Baker, Shirlee Tesch, and Gary and Lorraine Asmus. She was preceded in death by her uncle, Alan Asmus; and great-grandparents, Wilfred and Alice Pieper, Barbara Baker, Robert D. Schafer, Sr. and Lowell Tesch.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
