Alvina Jensen

Alvina Alice Jensen …

was born to Henry August and Alice Mable (Landgren) Dahms on February 24, 1940 in Pipestone, Minnesota. She attended school in Pipestone until she was nine years of age. In 1949, her parents moved the family to Jasper where she attended and graduated from Jasper High School in 1957. Alvina served as a nanny for numerous households. In 1964, she moved with one of her beloved families to Chicago, Illinois. It was here that she met Paul W. Jensen. They were married in January, 1966 in Chicago, Illinois. From this union two children were born. After Alvina raised her children, she took on a job as a clerk for Washington Mutual Insurance Company in the medical accounts receivable department. In 1991, she and her husband moved to Woodstock, Minnesota where she eventually retired due to health problems. In August, 2012, she moved to Pipestone. On October 25, 2012, she passed away at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 72 years, eight months and one day.

Alvina loved to read books, especially intrigue, mystery and romance novels. Her favorite authors were Nora Roberts and J.D. Robbs. She also enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. Some of her favorite shows were “Jeopardy”, “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” and “Wheel of Fortune”.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Lisa Thompson and her husband Tim of Maple Park, Illinois, and Paul D. Jensen of Oak Park, Illinois; four grandchildren; two brothers, Boyd Dahms and his wife Sue of Rudd, Iowa, and Dean Dahms of Pipestone, Minnesota; one half-sister, Viola Facile of Holland, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Marna Gillot. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Delbert Dahms, Gary Dahms and James Dahms; her half-brothers, Donovan Dahms, Francis Dahms, and Verlyn Dahms; and her half-sister, Melva Kadous.
