Ardell Wolff

September 24, 1936 — September 10, 2022

ARDELL DORIS WOLFF was born on September 24, 1936 to Walter and Margaret (Dingman) Thompson on the family farm in Jackson County, Minnesota. She attended country school and later high school in Windom, Minnesota. On January 9, 1955, she married Jim Wolff at Bethany Lutheran in Bergen, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they made their home by Lakefield, Minnesota and after several moves, they settled in Pipestone, Minnesota. To their marriage, four children were born. Ardell was a stay at home mom raising her family. When the children were raised, she was a daycare provider. Over the years, she worked for Bradstads Sewing, Bayliner and was later a cook at the Pipestone Sale Barn. Upon retiring, she and Jim went south for the winter, where she met new people and made many new friends. In the summer, she enjoyed camping, making bonfires and seeing old friends. During her retirement years, she also was an avid volunteer for Good Sam and the Food Shelf, and in 2007 was awarded the Good Sam Volunteer of the Year award. Ardell was a member of First Lutheran Church where she was involved in the FLCW, serving at funerals, helping with lefse making, meatball supper and salad luncheon. She was quite the crafter and shared her love of this with her children and grandchildren. At Christmas time, her famous "duck and dumplings" would be the talk of the dinner table.

Ardell entered the Pipestone County Hospice House on August 11, 2022 and passed away surrounded by family on September 10, 2022.

She is loving remembered by her children, Debra Lange of Pipestone, Minnesota; Roland (Kim) Wolff of Pipestone, Minnesota; and Janet (Dave) Miller of Littleton, Colorado; 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; one son, Rodney; son-in-law, Tom Lange; her parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
