Obituary for Ardis Henriksen

Ardis Elaine Henriksen was born April 9, 1952 to Henrik Marinus and Esther (Sorensen) Henriksen in Tyler, Minnesota. She was baptized and later confirmed all at Bethany Lutheran Church in Arco. Ardis grew up in Ash Lake Township and Arco, Minnesota and graduated from Ivanhoe Public Schools. She continued her education at Morehead State College where she attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education. Ardis had worked in education and human services for Ivanhoe Public School, Howard Lake Public School, Normark Corporation, LLMP Public Health, and Southwest Health and Human Services. She was looking forward to retirement on December 31, 2016. In September 2016, she was diagnosed with ALS. She entered the care of the Hendricks Community Hospital on September 29th where on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 she died peacefully at the age of 64 years.

Ardis was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Arco, Minnesota. She was active in the life of the congregation having served in Altar Guild, Youth Group, WELCA, teaching Sunday School, Choir, Church Council, and the Winds of the Prairie Council. She was a member and served in 4H, FHA, Band and Choir, National Honor Society, Knights of Knowledge Study Club, and Extension Home Study Club. She enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, crafts, and especially time spent with family and friends.

Ardis will be lovingly remembered by her brothers, Thomas Henriksen of New Prague, Minnesota, and Niels Henriksen (and Bonnie Hawkinson) of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; sisters, Marie Henriksen of Arco, Minnesota, Elin (and Leigh “Skip”) Krueger of Minnetonka, Minnesota; and a sister-in-law, Deloris (Enga) Henriksen of Mankato, Minnesota; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henrik and Esther; sister, Oda (and Robert) Dwire; and a brother, John Henriksen. Blessed and eternal be her memory.
