Obituary for Arlaine Meyer

ARLAINE LOUISE MEYER was born to Henry and Louise (Herschberger) Kock on June 11, 1933 in Ash Lake Township, near Lake Benton, Minnesota. She was raised on a farm in Lincoln County and attended school at District 29. When she completed the eighth grade, she continued her education at Lake Benton High School. After her graduation in 1951, she became employed by Fairway Foods in Lake Benton. On April 17, 1955, she was united in marriage to John Meyer at the Methodist Church in Lake Benton. Following their marriage, they lived in Lake Benton. A short time later, they moved to Pipestone, Minnesota. Then, in 1965, they moved to Albert Lea, Minnesota. In 1969, they returned to Pipestone. Arlaine spent the next 11 years as a homemaker, raising their four children. In 1980, she began working at the Thoughtfulness Shop in Pipestone. She continued working there for over 12 years until her retirement. John preceded her in death on April 20, 2007. After his death, she remained in Pipestone. Arlaine died peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Pipestone County Hospice House at 86 years, five months, and two days.

Arlaine was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. She loved to crochet and do counted cross-stitch. She and John loved to travel, and they enjoyed driving to places like Texas, Northern Minnesota and the Black Hills. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is lovingly remembered by her four children, Harold Meyer and his wife Sarah of Pipestone, Minnesota, Carol Dammann and her husband Paul of Clearwater, Minnesota, Randy Meyer of Pipestone, Minnesota, and LeAnn Perez and her husband Max of Keller, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Lois Kock, Corliss Kock, Florence Rochel and her husband Dale, and Bernice Christensen, all of Lake Benton, Minnesota; brother-in-law, Phil Mason of California; sister-in-law, Helen Gorter of Brandon, South Dakota; and many loving friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers-in-law, Don Christensen, Arnie Birkland and Lawrence Gorter; and two sisters-in-law, Cathy Mason and Arlene Birkland.
