Arthur "Art" L. Wulf

September 18, 1940 — April 9, 2013

ARTHUR 'ART' LEON WULF was born on September 18, 1940 to Henry and Mildred (Long) Wulf in Rock County, Minnesota where he was a lifelong resident. He lived with his family on a farm in rural Hardwick and later moved into town. During Art’s high school years, the family moved to Luverne. Art graduated from Luverne High School in 1958. He furthered his education at South Dakota State University and Worthington Community College. He married Carol Reu on October 8, 1960 at the First Baptist Church in Luverne. The couple made their home in Luverne where they were blessed with four children. Art was a very active dad in raising the children and providing for their family. Throughout the years, Art worked for AR Wood, Terrace Park Dairy, Dairy Queen, Winpower Generators, and as a dispatcher for Rock County Law Enforcement. He also worked at the First Baptist Church and drove bus for special events with the Luverne School District. Art retired from Rock County Law Enforcement in 2009. On Tuesday, April 9, 2013, Art died peacefully, with his wife’s hand in his, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage at the age of 72 years, 6 months and 21 days.

Art was an active member of the First Baptist Church and Living Rock Church in Luverne. He taught Sunday School, was involved in youth group leadership, and served as a trustee and usher. Within the community, Art was involved in the Tri State Band Festival Committee, Luverne Music Boosters, the Luverne Cardinal Club, and served on the Luverne School Board. He enjoyed playing on his church’s slow pitch softball team, coaching recreational sports, fishing, playing cards, and hunting with his family. Art loved to cook and passed this passion and skill on to all of his children. He and his wife, Carol, provided Christmas dinner to hundreds for over 20 years. He loved his role of Grandpa and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. Art will be remembered for his huge heart, welcoming nature, and genuine care and concern for others.

Art is lovingly remembered by his wife, Carol; his children, Cindy (Kurt) Wulf Boyum of Rochester, MN, Randy (Lynette) Wulf of Chester, SD, Christopher (Kari) Wulf of Sioux Falls, SD, and Rachel (Les) Wulf Ask of Luverne; 12 grandchildren, Jens, Nils, Per, and Liv Boyum, Brock, Reilly and Reagan Wulf, Alex, Adam and Bergen Ask, Nicole and JC Cox; one great-grandchild, Skyler Waldrop; and eight siblings, Elzora Ott of Luverne, Naidine Aanenson of Luverne, Audrey Munro of Sioux Falls, SD, Franklin (Ruby) Wulf of Chula Vista, CA, Donald (Lola) Wulf of Sioux City, IA, Henry (Loretta) Wulf of Brainerd, MN, Ruth (Alan) Hendrickson of Citra, FL, and Gordon (Patricia) Wulf of Wellston, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews.
