AVIS JEAN CHRISTENSEN was born to Aage E. and Florence (Sharp) Christensen on January 10, 1938, in Tyler, Minnesota. She grew up in Tyler and graduated from Tyler High School in 1956. In July 1956, she enlisted in the military and was discharged in July 1957. She spent many years working assembly at Daktronics in Brookings, South Dakota and was proud of the community in which she lived. She moved to Lake Benton, Minnesota in 2016 and continued to reside there until she passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 26, 2021 at the age of 83 years, two months, and 16 days.
Avis enjoyed model railroading, drawing, and bird watching. She had many fond memories of fishing with her Bedstefal (grandfather) on Dead Coon Lake.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughters; Tyke (James) Knudson, Brookings, South Dakota; Velvet (Bill) Buchenau of Brookings, South Dakota and her son; Kelly Davis of Brookings, South Dakota; grandchildren, Shaun, Dusty and Jesse Buchenau, Tejay (Mark) Kuechenmeister, and Nikki Knudson; step grandchild, Heather Pedersen; great-grandchildren, Trevor, Philip and Hollie Kuechenmeister, Dominic and Kaden Knudson; two sisters; Amy (significant other, Darwin) Christensen of Lake Benton, Minnesota and Angela (Rick) Dubbeldee of Tyler, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Arthur, Allan and Aage B. Christensen; and a sister, Audrey Christensen; and step-granddaughter, Jennifer Knudson.
In accordance with Avis' wishes no funeral service will be held.
