Beatrice Nordmeyer

August 26, 1931 — April 13, 2012

Beatrice Virginia Nordmeyer was born August 26, 1931 to Christian and Anna (Augustine) Turbes in Lisbon, North Dakota. As a child she moved with her family to Tyler, Minnesota, and graduated from Tyler High School in 1949. On July 4, 1958 Bea married Glen “Snick” Nordmeyer at St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler. Their union was blessed with four children and 39 years of life together. The couple resided in Lake Benton where Bea managed their home and raised their children, which was her favorite job. Bea worked part-time at The Lake Benton Opera House, The Burger Inn, Lake Benton Legion, and Ron’s Locker. Glen died in 1997. She was diagnosed with cancer in February 2012, and on Friday, April 13, 2012 Bea passed away surrounded by her family at the Pipestone County Hospice House in Pipestone, Minnesota at the age of 80 years.

Bea was a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lake Benton. She was active in Catholic Church Women (CCW) as part of the Rosary Society, the Funeral Lunch Committee, and sending greeting cards. She was a member of the Lake Benton American Legion Auxiliary and a volunteer at the Lake Benton Meal Site. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and watching sports, especially Minnesota teams. Bea found special joy in the time she spent with her children and grandchildren.

Bea is lovingly remembered by her children: Brenda (and Ken) Alley of Porter, Minnesota, David (and Jennifer) Nordmeyer of Lake Benton, Minnesota, Jon (and Sandi) Nordmeyer of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Glenn (and Renee) Nordmeyer of Brookings, South Dakota; 13 grandchildren: Cole, Riley, Carson, Macy, Sydney, Matt, Ashly, Taylor, Taylor, Haylee, Bruce, Nathan, and Brittney; a sister, Mary (and Hugo) Holm of Bremen, Indiana; brother-in-law Richard (and Janice) Nordmeyer of Balaton, Minnesota; sister-in-law Marion Fehrman of Kalispell, Montana; and many other relatives and friends, especially her card playing friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen; her parents; sister, Marcella; and infant brother, Bernard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be sent to Pipestone County Hospice House, Lake Benton Opera House, or Memorial Hill Cemetery in Lake Benton.
