Bernard Demuth

December 30, 1922 — September 22, 2019

BERNARD NICHOLAS DEMUTH was born on December 30, 1922 to Joseph and Lucy (Heger) Demuth in Gray Township, Pipestone County, Minnesota. He was raised on a farm north of Hatfield, Minnesota and attended elementary school in Hatfield, and the Pipestone High School, graduating in 1940. On June 1, 1948 he was united in marriage to Bernece Boomgaarden at St. Leo Catholic Church in Pipestone. In 1950 they moved to a farm in Burke Township where he farmed until the early 1980s. He remained on the farm where he pursued his hobby of woodworking. In October of 2017 they moved from the farm to their current residence in Pipestone where he remained until recently. After suffering an injury, he entered the care of the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone and from there the Pipestone County Hospice House in Pipestone. He passed away peacefully there on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at that age of 96 years, eight months, and 23 days.

Bernard was passionate about his hobby of woodworking, using his big hands to make delicate and precise pieces of furniture, especially baby cradles, and many other unique pieces. He also enjoyed reading, gardening, and traveling to visit family.
