Brian James French was born in Greencastle, Indiana on February 4, 1985. He grew up in rural Tracy and attended Tracy schools. He was a Boy Scout and a member of the Amiret Busy Bees 4-H Club. Brian was very interested in sustainable living practices, and his favorite work involved agriculture and livestock. He loved rural life, wildlife, and everything to do with the outdoors -- even the snow. Brian was a highly creative person who enjoyed tinkering and figuring out how things worked. His was interested in his many pets, gardening, military history, reading, traveling, and camping.
Brian was diagnosed with a brain tumor on June 6 and entered Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls the same day. He died on July 10, 2015 at the age of 30, with his family and friends by his side.
Brian will be lovingly remembered by his mother, Susan French of Tracy; his father Christopher French of Marshall, his sister Sarah French of Richfield, Minnesota; his brother David French of Madison, Wisconsin; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant brother, John Michael French; his paternal grandparents, Rosemary and Willard French; and his maternal grandparents, James and Marion Barstow.
