Brian Peterson

Brian Dale Peterson was born on September 10, 1953 in Tyler, Minnesota to Dale and Donna (Orange) Peterson. He was baptized on November 15, 1953 and confirmed on April 7, 1968 at the United Methodist Church in Ruthton, Minnesota. He graduated from Ruthton High School on May 24, 1971 and entered the United States Air Force on July 27, 1971. He received the Air Force Commendation Medal on May 14, 1975 and was honorably discharged on May 30, 1975. He moved back to Ruthton and entered the carpentry class at the Pipestone Vocational Technical School, graduating in July of 1978 with a carpentry certificate. He continued to live in Ruthton next door to his parents’ home. Being a lifetime self-employed man, Brian worked and provided many services and sold many products to people throughout his working years. He later moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for a time in the 90s before moving to Rapid City, South Dakota. In 2011 he returned to the area and entered the care of the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, Minnesota where he resided until 2020. He then moved into an apartment in Sioux Falls, and later the home where he had currently been residing. He entered and received care at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls and died peacefully there on Monday, February 28, 2022 at the age of 68 years.


Brian is lovingly remembered by his sister, Shari (Rick) Wiese of Tracy, Minnesota; brother, Todd (Patty) Peterson of Henderson, Nebraska; four nieces and one nephew, Terri (Doug) Sluis, Troy (Kathy) Weatherly, Keli Weatherly, Kacie Weatherly, and Ashley (Kirby) Eide; 10 great-nieces and -nephews; two great-great-nieces; one aunt, Jean Gilbertson of Maple Grove, Minnesota; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
