CAROL MAXINE DRESSEN was born to Viggo and Anne Marie (Berdin) Jacobsen on February 15, 1920 on a farm near Graettinger, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Graettinger. She attended country school through the eighth grade and then entered Graettinger High School. In 1936, her parents bought a farm west of Lake Benton, Minnesota, and the family moved there. Carol completed her education at Verdi High School in Verdi, Minnesota. After her high school graduation in 1937, she worked as a waitress in the Lake Benton restaurants. She met her future husband at a dance in Lake Benton in early 1939. She then moved to Pipestone, Minnesota where she was employed at the Club Caf as a waitress. She continued seeing Lloyd, and they loved to go dancing. In 1940, she married Lloyd Dressen on her 20th birthday. Following their marriage, they resided in Pipestone. Lloyd preceded her in death on August 14, 2002. After his death, Carol continued to reside in Pipestone. On April 23, 2006, she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Community of Pipestone where she passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the age of 98 years, one month, and 23 days.

Her hobbies included sewing, traveling, crocheting, gardening, reading, playing cards, and watching sports events with her husband, especially baseball. In later years, she and her husband enjoyed many trips with the Holiday Rambler Club, and they spent many winters in Arizona.

She is lovingly remembered by her four children, Bob (Teena) Dressen of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Marcy (Jim) Reese of Lake Wilson, Minnesota, Gaye Lynn (Tom) Litka of Oak Harbor, Washington, and Myrna (John) Griffin of Lakeville, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Stanley Jacobsen of Berkley, California; two sisters-in-law, Dolores Dressen of Ellsworth, Minnesota, and LeAnn Nordberg of Gold Canyon, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
