She was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Graettinger. She attended country school through the eighth grade and then entered Graettinger High School. In 1936, her parents bought a farm west of Lake Benton, Minnesota, and the family moved there. Carol completed her education at Verdi High School in Verdi, Minnesota. After her high school graduation in 1937, she worked as a waitress in the Lake Benton restaurants. She met her future husband at a dance in Lake Benton in early 1939. She then moved to Pipestone, Minnesota where she was employed at the Club Caf as a waitress. She continued seeing Lloyd, and they loved to go dancing. In 1940, she married Lloyd Dressen on her 20th birthday. Following their marriage, they resided in Pipestone. Lloyd preceded her in death on August 14, 2002. After his death, Carol continued to reside in Pipestone.
