Carol Stout

April 24, 1945 — September 17, 2019

CAROL LYNN STOUT was born to Alvin and Phyllis (Heckt) Brockberg on April 24, 1945 in Pipestone, Minnesota. She was baptized on May 13, 1945 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Trosky, Minnesota where she was also confirmed on May 18, 1958. She attended country school followed by Edgerton Public in Edgerton, Minnesota into her eighth grade year until joining her family for a move to Pipestone where she would finish her formal education in 1963. 1963 turned out to be a highlight year as she was crowned Homecoming Queen, married her high school sweetheart, Jim Stout, on July 3 and moved to Winona, Minnesota while Jim finished college.

Carol worked various jobs in Winona and Pipestone, including, Watkins Products, State Farm, Stout and Evink, Wee Kare Daycare with her daughter, Shelly and Double “D” Gravel until her retirement in 2008.

Carol and Jim were blessed with four children, Lisa, Shelly, Dan and Kristin, but Carol’s “open door” policy to other kids in Pipestone would suggest she had countless others. She loved the teenage years of her children and their friends and was particularly gifted at making up charades for the groups of teens to play.

Carol was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone and involved herself in numerous factions of the church outreach. She diligently fought a decade long battle with multiple cancers eventually succumbing on Tuesday, September 17, 2019.

She was grateful to have shared 55 years with her husband, Jim of Pipestone; four children, Lisa McDaniel of Slayton, Minnesota, Shelly (Brad) Tuinstra of Pipestone, Dan (Kelly) Stout of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Kristin (Rick) Zollner of Pipestone; 12 grandchildren, Kayla, Marcus, Tegan, Taryn, Trevor, Kaylee, Casey, Randie, Ally, Ryan, Jaymes, and Zayne; one great-grandchild, Hannah; four sisters, Pat (George) Larson, Karla (Ron) Ackerman, Donna (Mike) Wetteland, and Annette (Doug) Dubbelde; one brother, Keith (Gay) Brockberg; and one brother-in-law, Tom (Marsha) Stout. She was preceded in death by her father, Alvin Brockberg; her mother, Phyllis Brockberg; her brother, Dean Brockberg; father-in-law, Eldon Stout and mother-in-law, Lillian Stout.
