Clarence Fredrick Meyer

August 30, 1929 — June 2, 2014

CLARENCE FREDRICK MEYER was born on August 30, 1929 to Ernest and Christina (Van Dam) Meyer in Dell Rapids, South Dakota. He grew up in the Holland, Minnesota area where he attended school until the 8th grade and helped on the family farm. On October 10, 1951, Clarence was united in marriage to Jacqueline Pamp at St. Martin Catholic Church in Woodstock, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed on two different farms in Grange Township near Holland. In 1969, they moved to a farm in Fountain Prairie Township. Clarence farmed on his own until 1982, until his farm sale; at that point, he continued to farm and rented out his land to local farmers. He then hauled mail for the Kor family until 2010 when he retired. Along with hauling mail he continued to raise livestock until 2002. After his wife’s death in 2002, he moved into Holland. In August of 2013, Clarence moved into the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone until March of this year. He then moved into the Golden LivingCenter in Slayton, Minnesota where he lived until his death on Monday, June 2, 2014, at the age of 84 years, nine months, and three days.

Clarence was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church in Woodstock, Minnesota until he moved into Holland and joined St. James Lutheran Church. He enjoyed farming, gardening, and planting flowers and was an all-around handyman. Clarence also spent time mowing the Holland Cemetery lawn for many years.

Clarence is lovingly remembered by his significant other, Lavon Timm of Holland, Minnesota; two children, Jim (Vickie) Meyer of Columbus, Nebraska and Jane McFarland of Lake Wilson, Minnesota; grandchildren, Jamie (Jenny) Meyer, Clint (Michelle) Meyer, Colleen Brown, Zach (Emily) McFarland, Danielle (Ben) Marble, and Amanda (Chad Mitchell) McFarland; great-grandchildren, Ella, Bailee, Gabby, Brayden, Trenton, Jordan, Caden, Jackie, Caleb, Bob and Chevy; siblings, Mary Ann Steele of Pipestone, Minnesota, Betty Einck of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, Darlene Ford of Pipestone; sister-in-law, Darlene Meyer of Pipestone; and brother-in-law, Loren Veen of Holland.
