Clarene Hubers

May 31, 1938 — November 13, 2019

CLARENE HARRIET HUBERS was born to Clarence and Rena (DeBoer) Vander Bush on May 31, 1938 on the family farm in Aetna Township, Pipestone County, Minnesota. She was raised on various farms in southwest Minnesota where she also attended school. On June 24, 1955, she was united in marriage to Vernon Hubers at the American Reformed Church in Woodstock, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived on the Hubers’ family farm before moving to a farm outside of Pipestone and later to a home in Pipestone where they resided for over 45 years. Clarene worked at Donaldson Variety Store in Pipestone for four years and then she became employed at Luksik Drug in Pipestone. She continued to work there for 22 years while also raising three children. When Luksik Drug closed she began working at A&S Drug in Pipestone. She retired after suffering a stroke in 2004. Recently both Clarene and Vern became residents of the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone. Clarene passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the Pipestone County Medical Center at the age of 81 years, five months, and 12 days.

Clarene was a member of Peace United Methodist Church in Pipestone where she was active in the UMW and Circle #3. Clarene was a musical person; she enjoyed singing in the church choir, and playing accordion, organ and piano. She was a member of an Extension Club; she enjoyed doing crafts and collecting items related to frogs (lawn décor, knick-knacks...). She was a kind-hearted, sweet lady. She liked her dinners out at Gannon's and Lange's through the years with Vern. When their children were young, they would pick up the kids after work and head out fishing, which they loved.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Vern Hubers of Pipestone, Minnesota; two sons, Verlyn Hubers of Marshall, Minnesota, Jim (Rhonda) Hubers of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; one granddaughter, Taya DeRycke of Pipestone; four brothers, Melvin (Gayle) DeBoer of Enterprise, Florida, Robert (Willie) Vander Bush of Sioux Center, Iowa, Harold (Jewel) Vander Bush of Fargo, North Dakota, and Marlin (Lucy) Vander Bush of Jud, North Dakota; and her twin sister, Clarice Krosschell of Edgerton, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Cindy DeRycke; her sister, Henrietta Kalas; and her brother-in-law, Jack Krosschell.
