Clifford Rupp

CLIFFORD ROBERT RUPP was born on September 12, 1919 to Martin and Sadie (Rupp) Rupp on the farm in Rose Hill Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota, where he was raised and attended country school through the eighth grade. He farmed and did custom work for many years. On July 4, 1947, Cliff was united in marriage to Marian Betty Deshazer. The couple moved to Ruthton, Minnesota to make their home. Cliff then began Rupp Graveling and Excavating Service which he owned and operated for the next fifty years. In December of 1955, he received his baptism and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Cliff formally retired in 1981 when he sold the business to his son, Bob. Cliff loved what he did and never considered it work. He continued to help his son whenever he was needed. On Tuesday, March 15, 2016, Cliff passed away peacefully at the Pipestone County Hospice House in Pipestone, Minnesota at the age of 96 years, six months and three days.

Cliff was passionate about pickups and cars and appreciated good, clean vehicles. He took tremendous pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cliff loved to run the payloader, and hangout with his good friend, David Jackson.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Marian, of Ruthton; four children, Sharon (David) Fadness of Ruthton, Robert (Becky) Rupp of Ruthton, Joanne (Brent) DeRuyter of Ruthton, and Robbin (Craig) Rollag of Buffalo, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; three siblings, Merle Rupp, Ellen Benson, and Chuck Rupp. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Sadie; six siblings, Clarence Rupp, Mary Lou Hald, Marvin Rupp, Dora Graveley, Florence Ericson, and Raymond Rupp.
