Constance "Connie" G. Lindblom

CONSTANCE "CONNIE" GLADYS LINDBLOM was born on May 19, 1938 to Walter and Gladys (Olson) Baldwin in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She was raised on the family farm 2 miles south of Elbow Lake, Minnesota and attended the Elbow Lake Public School graduating in 1956. After graduation she attended the Minnesota School of Business and then worked in the downtown Minneapolis area at Union Carbide Chemical Co. Connie married LeRoy Lindblom on May 3, 1958 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Barrett, Minnesota. The couple made their first home in Elbow Lake where Connie worked at the 1st National Bank. She began working at the Elbow Lake Public School in 1961 and after the family moved to Luverne, Minnesota in 1967 Connie continued her thirty-five year career as a secretary for public schools at Luverne Elementary school retiring in 2002. She worked for a short time at the Sanford Sycamore Clinic then as a Fitness Technician at Curves in Luverne until 2006. Connie also worked at the Luverne Public Library from 2004 to 2010. LeRoy preceded her in death on March 5, 2016. In September, 2016, Connie moved to The Pines Senior & Assisted Living in Richfield, Minnesota to be closer to her family. On Wednesday, March 6, 2019, Connie died peacefully at the Fairview-Southdale Hospital in Edina, Minnesota at the age of 80 years, nine months and 17 days.

Connie was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne. She served on the Church Council, Stewardship Committee, Women’s Activities, the Grace Handbell Choir and taught Sunday School and Release Time. She participated in Circle, Bible Study and served on the Banner Committee. Connie was active in the Luverne Riverside 4-H Club. She enjoyed bridge clubs, traveling and dancing with LeRoy and working in her flower gardens and quilting. Connie was a member of the Tripoli Club, the Luverne Tourist Club, Mrs. Jaycees, and Lazy Susan Extension Club. She was a charter member of the Red Hat Society. She was an avid sports fan of both the Luverne High School and the Minnesota Vikings football teams and had served as a parent rep for the Luverne hockey program. Connie most enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her children and grandchildren.

Connie is survived by her two daughters, Debra Solis of Apple Valley, Minnesota and Dawn Lindblom (Tim Knaak) of Richfield, Minnesota; her two sons, Darwin Lindblom (Dr. Jack Byers) of St. Paul, Minnesota and Darrin Lindblom (Paula) of Lino Lakes, Minnesota; seven grandchildren, Crystal, Christianna and Nicole Solis, Grace and Josephine Lindblom, and Kit Lindblom Knaak and Walter Knaak; three great-grandchildren, Kyla Jones, Ashton Decker and Carson Decker; and a brother, Glenn (Kathy) Baldwin of Chandler, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy; parents, Walter and Gladys Baldwin; and a step-mother, Irene Baldwin.

Memorial donations may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church Sunday School Program, Luverne Education Legacy Fund or Luverne Dollars for Scholars.
