Obituary for Dale Taubert

DALE EUGENE TAUBERT was born in Holland, Minnesota to Arthur Franklin and Beulah (Ott) Taubert. He was raised in Holland and was baptized and confirmed at the Presbyterian Church there. He received his elementary education at a country school and then Pipestone High School, graduating in 1945. After his schooling, Dale worked as a farmhand and then after a while, he drove truck with his brothers. Dale enlisted into the United States Army and was stationed in Japan. After he was honorably discharged, he moved back to Holland. On August 27, 1950, he was united in marriage to Darlene Edgecomb at the Presbyterian Church in Holland. To this union, two children were born. They made their home in Holland for a short while before moving to Pipestone. Once there, Dale began working for Walkup Machinery. Following that, he was employed by Minneapolis Moline Farm Equipment, moving the family to Mankato, Minnesota. In 1971, the family moved back to Pipestone where Dale became a partner in DeVries Implement. In 1980, DeVries Implement closed and Dale started his career with Pipestone County as the Building and Zoning Inspector. After Dale retired, they continued to make their home in Pipestone. On May 17, 2016, Dale was admitted into the Pipestone County Medical Center until May 24 when he entered the care of the Pipestone County Hospice House where he remained until his death on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the age of 88 years, seven months and 16 days.

Dale was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Pipestone, serving as an elder and singing in the choir. Dale had a beautiful voice, singing at many wedding and funerals as well as a quartet he sang in with his brothers. He was a member of the Pipestone Lions Clubs and the Pipestone American Legion. In younger years, Dale played amateur baseball for Holland. He enjoyed watching any and all sports and especially enjoyed fishing. Dale spent many mornings and afternoons having coffee with his Lange’s family. Most importantly, Dale cherished the time he spent with his family, especially the annual vacation trips to Lake Ottertail.

Dale is lovingly remembered by his wife, Darlene of Pipestone; children, Lynn (John) Zick of Montecito, California and Matt (Peggy) Taubert of Pipestone; grandchildren, Sean (Amanda) Zick of Chicago, Illinois, Ryan (Raquel) Zick of Carpinteria, California, Colin (Nicole Patterson) Taubert of Dell Rapids, South Dakota and Abbey Taubert of Pipestone; great-grandchildren, Connor Zick and Maddie Taubert. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, George, Clytis and Kenneth; and one sister, Darlene Thomsen.
