Dallas C. Marr

April 25, 1943 — October 10, 2020

DALLAS CHARLES MARR was born on April 25, 1943 to Donald and Eileen (Schei) Marr in Adrian, Minnesota. He was raised on the family farm northeast of Magnolia. In his youth, he enjoyed riding his horse and listening to music, when he wasn’t helping out with chores on the farm. After finishing his education, he jumped into farming full-time with his Dad. In 1966, Dallas began dating Linda Grotjohn and on January 14, 1967, the two were married at Zion Lutheran Church in Adrian. The couple made their first home in an additional small dwelling on Dallas’ parents’ farm. In 1970, they moved to an acreage, one mile west of his parents’ home. In 1977, he and Linda, along with their two young daughters, returned to the farm place in which Dallas grew up. Dallas continued to farm alongside his Dad for several more years. If he wasn’t farming, Dallas could often be found on the lawn mower, mowing his yard, the ditches, and even the neighbor’s ditches. His grandson later jokingly pointed out, that if he would keep the grass higher in the grove, they might attract more wildlife, which his grandson could then hunt. In his later years, Dallas enjoyed going to town for coffee with his friends and listening to polka music while driving around the country to check on the crops. Dallas often joked around, and was frequently blunt and to the point. In general, you knew where you stood with Dallas.

On Saturday, October 10, 2020, Dallas died peacefully at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage at the age of 77 years.

Dallas will lovingly be remembered by his wife, Linda; two daughters, Janeen (Colin) Fettig of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, Lisa (Mark) Marr-Lyon of Los Alamos, New Mexico; four grandchildren, Nicholas Fettig, Hannah Fettig, Leah Marr-Lyon and Josie Marr-Lyon; oodles of cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
