Dan's service will be livestreamed at: www.arcluverne.org

DANIEL LEE KOPP was born on December 10, 1957 to Walter and Eileen (Sunde) Kopp in Luverne, MN. He was raised on a farm near Kenneth, MN where he attended elementary school, and he graduated from Magnolia High School in 1975. While in high school Dan played basketball, football and sang in the pops choir. Dan worked for area farmers bailing hay, milking cows and babysitting. He loved riding horse when he wasn’t working. Dan attended Pipestone Vocational (PAVTI) and graduated from the Lumberyard Management (BMMM) program. In 1977 he moved to Chamberlain, SD to work at Peavey Lumber, on September 17, 1977 he married his high school sweetheart, Pamela Aanenson, at Grace Lutheran Church in Luverne. While living in Chamberlain, he loved spending time on the water, whether it was fishing or cruising the river with friends. In 1982 he moved the family to Mobridge, SD where he managed Larson Lumber. Dan loved the lumberyard business. He loved to draw up blueprints for new homes and pole barns. Somedays he would say “I ran into an issue,” he would pray about it, have dreams at night and finish it the next day. Later in life he knew it was the Lord that would give him plans and ideas in his head. In 1988 he moved his family to Kanaranzi, MN. He was glad to be back to the area where they would be close to family. He worked at Sudenga Industry in George, IA where he was a welder, used his lumber construction skills to build offices and then becoming a supervisor of the Dura-Lift department. In 1996 Dan was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and moved to Luverne in 1997. In 2002, Dan left Sudenga Industries to work at Agri-Energy in Luverne so he could be closer to home, where he continued to work until retirement in 2006 due to the progression of multiple sclerosis. In 2014 Dan became a resident of Parkview Manor in Ellsworth, MN and became a resident of Good Samaritan Society - Mary Jane Brown in Luverne in 2016. On Monday, July 30, 2018 Dan died peacefully under hospice care at the age of 60 years, 7 months and 20 days.

Dan currently was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Luverne. He previously served on church boards and organizations. Dan enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking in his spare time. He loved playing ball and fishing with his children. They will remember him teaching them how to work with their hands while building or doing remodeling jobs. Dan would say, “I’m usually qualified to start a project after I have finished it” and “never say you can’t do something until you have proven you can’t”. Before MS, Dan was always there to help his friends and family when they needed him.

Dan is lovingly remembered by his wife, Pamela; children, KaraJo (Perry) Schneekloth of Brandon, SD; Candice (Anthony) Mann of Luverne; Tony (Molly) Kopp of Ankeny, IA; and Natalie (TJ) Barthman of Brandon, SD; grandchildren, Blake, Emma, Grace, Olivia Schneekloth, Jocelynn, Addyson, Nicholas Mann, Ailey, Eames, Eli Kopp, and Brett, Lawson, Breyson, and Chesney Barthman; siblings, Tim (Becky) Kopp of Renton, WA, Jon (Peggy) Kopp of Kenneth, MN, Tom (Marlene) Kopp of Luverne, Kris (Dan) Fischer of Fulda, MN; brother-in-law John (Leisa) Aanenson of Linn Grove, IA; and mother-in-law, Gloria Aanenson of Luverne; and many nieces and nephews.
