Obituary for Daniel Larsen

Daniel Blaine Larsen was born October 30, 1953 to Darrell and Carole (Blaine) Larsen in Tyler, Minnesota. He was baptized in Tyler by Rev. Vordale of First English Lutheran Church. He grew up in Lake Benton, and graduated from Lake Benton High School in 1973. He then worked construction with his father, building homes. He later moved to Valley, Nebraska where he worked building irrigation systems. He moved back to Lake Benton in 1993 and worked with the wind towers. Daniel met Connie Gawerecki in 1994. They moved to Perham, Minnesota where he worked at Lund boats and in 1995 they purchased their first home on Ottertail Lake in Ottertail City. On September 14, 1996 they were married at Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton. Their union was blessed with one son, Colton born in 1998, and 17 years of life together. They moved to Pipestone in 2005 and he worked for Bayliner until it closed. In December 2010 he was diagnosed with bladder cancer. In 2011, they moved to Battle Lake, Minnesota and managed a resort. Later that year Daniel was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He fought a quiet and courageous battle with his illness. On January 6, 2014 Daniel passed away at his home in Battle Lake, surrounded by his family. He was 60 years old.

Danny enjoyed baseball, fastpitch softball, hunting, fishing, feeding the birds, water sports, and especially spending time with his family and his dog, Maggie.

Danny is lovingly remembered by his wife, Connie Larsen, of Battle Lake, Minnesota; his son, Colton, of Battle Lake; mother, Carole Larsen of Lake Benton, Minnesota; father, Darrell Larsen of Lake Benton; siblings, Deborah (and Gregory) Esposito of Lake Benton, Tamara Heidebrink (and Ken Tyrrell) of Spencer, Iowa, Dana (and Jane) Larsen of Marshall, Minnesota, and Kara (and Collin) Christensen of Lake Benton; father- and mother-in-law, Jim and Lois Gawerecki of Lake Benton; sister-in-law, Cheryl Gawerecki of Burnsville, Minnesota; brother-in-law Gregory Gawerecki of Verdi, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his nephew, Craig Esposito, and his grandparents, Thomas and Luella Blaine, and Soren and Stella Larsen.

Blessed be his memory.
