In 1947, she moved with her parents into Pipestone and attended school there. During her senior year of high school, she began working as a secretary for the REA in Pipestone. After her graduation from Pipestone High School in 1955, she continued working at the REA. One year later, she became employed as the secretary for the superintendent of schools in Pipestone. On August 21, 1960, Darline was united in marriage to Galen E. Dalin at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Pipestone. Following their marriage, they lived in Pipestone and Darline continued working for the school district. In 1963, she became employed by Sweet Township Insurance Company in Pipestone. She worked there until her son was born in 1964. While raising her son, she became interested in the ceramics business and started her own company which was known as D&G Ceramics. She worked hard at building this business and at one time owned over 6,000 ceramic molds. Then, in 1985, she decided to enter the re-upholstery business and opened her own shop which was known as D’Elegance. After suffering a stroke in October of 2018, Darline entered the Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone where she resided since. She died peacefully there on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at the age of 84 years.

She was currently a member of First Lutheran Church in Pipestone where she had been active in her church circle and the worship committee.
