David Rollag

May 8, 1943 — June 29, 2021

DAVID LEE ROLLAG was born on May 8, 1943 to Orville and Rose (Sanderson) Rollag in Rock Rapids, Iowa. He received his baptism and confirmed his faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Rapids. During his youth, he fondly remembered having a paper route in town and enjoyed playing with his cousins in Steen. He attended the Rock Rapids school system and following his education, David left the area and worked as a carpenter in various locations, including California. He married. The couple had three children, David, Derrick, and Jennifer. While in California, he was involved as a Boy Scout leader. David enjoyed working in his trade of carpentry. He had a strong faith and was a very patriotic and loving father, brother and friend. He deeply loved the Lord and shared his faith with everyone. He eventually returned to the Midwest, settling in Luverne, Minnesota in 2002 where he enjoyed doing small carpentry projects for friends. On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, David died peacefully under hospice care at the Good Samaritan Society – Mary Jane Brown Home in Luverne at the age of 78 years, one month and 21 days.

David is survived by his two children, David and Jennifer; and four siblings, Dwayne (Helen) Rollag of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Darlene VandeKop of Des Moines, Iowa, Sharon Snuttjer of Clive, Iowa, and Rhea (John) McBride of St. Paul, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his son, Derrick; parents, Orville and Rose Rollag; siblings and their spouses, Donovan (Catherine) Rollag and Doris (Diedrik) Nelson; and two brothers-in-law, Gene VandeKop and Jerome Snuttjer.

We wish to thank all David’s caregivers, especially Art Ehde, Dr. Stephan Chesley, and those at the Mary Jane Brown home and hospice.
