Obituary for Dean Gunderson

DEAN GUNDERSON was born to Norman and Elayne (Arends) Gunderson on January 6, 1958 in Pipestone, Minnesota. He was raised on the farm west of Ihlen, Minnesota. When he entered the seventh grade, he moved with his parents to Jasper, Minnesota where he completed his education. After his graduation from Jasper High School in 1976, he became employed at Bayliner Marine in Pipestone. On June 7, 1980, he was united in marriage to Geraldine Swenson at St. John Lutheran Church. Following their marriage, they lived in Pipestone. In the fall of 1982, they purchased a home in Trosky, Minnesota, and Dean continued to work at Bayliner. When Bayliner closed, he went to work for Gorter’s Clay and Dairy Equipment in Pipestone. A short time later, Bayliner reopened and he returned to work there until they closed their Pipestone operation. At that time, Dean became employed for Christensen Farm in Pipestone. On Friday, September 9, 2011, he became ill and was taken to the Pipestone County Medical Center where he died that same day at the age of 53 years, eight months and three days.

Dean was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper, Minnesota. He enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle. He liked spending some time at the casino, and he also enjoyed golfing and snowmobiling. He especially liked spending time with his grandchildren and cruising around the countryside with is dog, “Cody Jo”.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Geraldine Gunderson of Trosky, Minnesota; two daughters, Trisha Gunderson of Edgerton, Minnesota, and Krystal Gunderson of Trosky, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Ashlynn and Kaisen; one brother, Douglas Gunderson and his wife Cheryl of Luverne, Minnesota; and two sisters, Jan Krapf and her husband Jim of New Ulm, Minnesota, and Beth Bisson and her husband Tom of Jasper, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Gary Gunderson.
