Debra Lynn Spronk

January 27, 1957 — May 2, 2017

Debra Lynn Spronk, after running a race well run, left this earth for her eternal home on May 2nd, 2017.

She was born on January 27, 1957 to Nick and Cynthia De Boer in Luverne, MN. She attended Leota Christian School and Southwest Christian High School. At Southwest, Deb met a quiet young man named Gordon. They dated, fell in love and were married on July 28, 1978, an anniversary they shared with Deb’s parents.

Deb attended Dordt College and went on to receive her nursing degree at Mounds Midway School of Nursing in St. Paul, MN. After finishing school, Gordon and Deb made their home in Pipestone, MN in 1981 with their newborn daughter Courtney. While living in Pipestone, they also welcomed their son Jordon and their daughter Morgan. Her children were her passion and her joy.

Her 3 grandchildren, Brody, Ryleigh & Lincoln were 3 great loves in her life. The Nana that she was to them is what every child should have in their life. Fun, silly, quirky, gentle and loving, always willing to be there for them whenever they needed her.

Deb lived to love. Filled with a compassion to serve everyone around her, Deb was involved in Cornerstone Church and in her community. She volunteered at Atlas for Life for over 11 years and wore many hats there, each one gratifying in its own way to her.

Deb loved to live. She traveled the world with Gordon, getting to see places most dream of. Her kitchen was her haven, always planning and prepping the next meal to bring her family together. She always had a song to sing, making a joyful noise to the Lord. She loved to play and had a spark that never seemed to burn out.

Deb loved a selfless love. She served with no expectations and ran her race holding steadfast to His promises. She laughed with a contagious, heavenly Joy. She had the ability to see a need and meet it right there. Her gentle spirit could uplift the weariest of souls. Her many passion projects included turning old things into new. She could take things so broken and messy, things most would look at and call ‘junk’, and form them into beautiful treasures.

Those who anxiously await to be reunited with her again in glory: the love of her life, Gordon who she walked hand in hand with for almost 39 years; daughter & son-in-law Courtney & Tyler Schelhaas and their children Brody, Ryleigh & Lincoln, son Jordon, and daughter & son-in-law Morgan & Jordyn Vogt; her parents Nick & Cynthia De Boer; her sister Wendy (Ron) Krosschell, brothers Rod (Marcia) De Boer and Jeff De Boer; in-laws Fern (Carl) Wiersum, Del (Jo) Spronk, Leon (Cynthia) Spronk and Randy (Beth) Spronk, along with many nephews and nieces.

She joined Gordon’s parents, Henry & Alma Spronk and nephew Clinton Spronk.
