Delbert "Deb" James Feyereisen

October 28, 1932 — August 3, 2015

DELBERT “DEB” JAMES FEYEREISEN was born on October 28, 1932 to Gabriel and Alta (Winterfield) Feyereisen in Pipestone, Minnesota. He was raised on a farm just south of Woodstock, Minnesota. He attended grade school and then Pipestone High School, graduating in 1950. He met Delores Mae Berg and the two were united in marriage on October 21, 1952 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Woodstock. This union was blessed with five children. Delbert started his married life renting the old J.P. Feyereisen homestead. In 1959, he realized his dream come true, when he started farming on his own. In 1973, he purchased the gravel pit and in the early 80s he purchased the land that became the family farm, the same land he had been living on and farming for 56 years. Deb called that land his home until his recent illness. On August 3, 2015, Deb passed away at the Pipestone County Medical Center in Pipestone at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 5 days.

Deb was a life-long member of St. Martin Catholic Church in Woodstock. He served as the sexton of the St. Martin Catholic Cemetery for more than 60 years and was on the Burke Township Board for many years. He was also an award-winning Dekalb Seed Salesman. Deb always enjoyed going to meet with friends, socializing, and having coffee with the coffee crew. Driving around and checking the crops was a favorite pastime. Deb was a devoted and successful farmer; he always said that he felt he never worked a day in his life because he loved what he did. Deb was an avid newspaper reader, he loved history and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings.

Deb is lovingly remembered by his children, Judy (Roger) Quiram of Carlton, Minnesota, Debbie Feyereisen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Cindy (George) Ford of Sherburn, Minnesota, Connie (Chris) Haugen of Crooks, South Dakota, and Jim (Joy) Feyereisen of Woodstock; 7 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 7 step great-grandchildren; his long-time special friend, Marge Emery of Woodstock; brother, Fran (Barb) Feyereisen of Crystal, Minnesota; sister, Stella (Dick) Lingen of Jasper, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Delores.
