Delbert James Eagle Feather Willert

Delbert James Eagle Feather Willert was born January 15, 1997 in Todd County, South Dakota to Sophie and Arthur Eagle Feather Sr. After two years at Flandreau, South Dakota he moved to Ramona, South Dakota to live with his foster family in the home of Roger and Bebe Abraham. Kevin and Laura Willert celebrate September 9, 2002 as a Family Birthday when five-year-old Delbert became their son through adoption. He was baptized on November 3, 2002 at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota. He was an altar server at St. Genevieve and was planning on going on a Mission Trip to Montana with the confirmation class. He was a junior at Elkton High School in Elkton, South Dakota. Delbert died as the result of an auto accident on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the age of 17.

Delbert was active in 4-H, and a member of FFA. Two years ago Delbert and his father raised funds for a grain rescue tube which saved the life of a man from Hendricks. He was an artistic young man who liked music and sports, especially basketball, and who loved being with his friends. At his death he became an eye and tissue donor to help improve the lives of others.

Delbert is lovingly remembered by his parents, Kevin and Laura Willert of Lake Benton, Minnesota; his birth parents, Sophie and Arthur Eagle Feather Sr.; his foster parents, Roger and Bebe Abraham; his brothers, Collin and Wesley Willert; birth siblings, Melvin Smashed Ice, Alicia Black Dog, Arthur Eagle Feather Jr., Cisco Bella, Wambli Eagle Feather, and Viola Heidemann; special foster brothers, Nick, Heath, and Doug Abraham; special sisters, Montana, Morgan, and Anna; grandparents, Dennis and Darlene Willert; grandmother, Violet Eagle Feather; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Jim and Nannette Przymus

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to scholarships in Delbert's name.
