Delores E. Fey

May 1, 1935 — April 1, 2022

DELORES E. FEY was born to George and Gertrude (Tuinstra) Post on May 1, 1935 on a farm near Hardwick, Minnesota. As a small child, she moved with her parents to a farm west of Ruthton, Minnesota, and two years later to a farm seven miles south of Tyler, Minnesota. She attended country school in District 44 of Lincoln County and then Tyler High School. After her graduation in 1952, she worked at the Okey Cleaners in Pipestone. On June 25, 1954, she was united in marriage to Merlyn Fey at the Christian Reformed Church in Pipestone, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they lived in Pipestone and Delores continued to work at the cleaners. When they moved to Tyler in 1955, she worked at the Ben Franklin Store. In 1961, they moved to a farm near Ruthton, Minnesota, and Delores stayed at home to raise their children and also to help with the farm work. They bought a farm near Lake Wilson, Minnesota in 1968. They lived there until 1998 when they moved into Pipestone. On November 16, 2011, Merlyn preceded her in death. After his death, she continued to live in Pipestone. In October 2015, Delores became a resident at the Good Samaritan Communities in Pipestone, where on Friday, April 1, 2022 she went to be with her Lord at the age of 86 years and 11 months.

Delores was a member of the Woodstock Community Church (formerly the American Reformed Church) in Woodstock, Minnesota, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and volunteered with the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed music, and she loved to sing and play the piano, harmonica and accordion. She also enjoyed crocheting and embroidering. Many special times were spent with her children and grandchildren playing cards and recording songs.

She is lovingly remembered by her five children, Curtis (Kathy) Fey of Pipestone, Minnesota, Douglas (Pamula) Fey of Woodstock, Minnesota, Robin Smith of Marion, South Dakota, Brenda Fey (Dale Standish) of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Kimberly (Stephen) Becker of Staples, Minnesota; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois Fey of Pipestone, Minnesota; two sisters-in-law, Chris Fey and Sue Uilk; and other relatives and friends.
