DELORES HENRIETTA KINDT was born on July 9, 1930, to John and Myrtle (Uilk) Kortleever at their farmhouse east of Edgerton, Minnesota. Growing up on the farm as one of ten children, a strong work ethic was instilled in Delores from a young age. Every morning prior to walking to country school, Delores and her siblings would each milk a cow by hand. She later attended school in Edgerton prior returning home full-time to help on the farm. While attending a dance at the Hollyhock Ballroom in Hatfield, Minnesota, her new dress caught the eye of Russell Kindt. The two were united in marriage in 1950, at their church in Hardwick. They made their home in Kenneth, Minnesota where she would reside the remainder of the days she was blessed with. Delores and Russell remained hard at work raising not only dairy cattle, but also hogs, chickens and crops until 1981. Russell preceded Delores in death on December 15, 1982. She continued to live independently in the home they shared, making sure to keep up on mowing the acreage and baking chocolate cakes. Delores died peacefully on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at her home at the age of 90 years, seven months, and 24 days.

Throughout life, Delores remained steadfast in faith and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick. She always loved taking car rides through the country, visiting family, and admiring the lake even after her walleye fishing days had concluded. She truly enjoyed her annual 4th of July birthday celebrations from which many memories were created setting off fireworks and gathering her loved ones together. Delores helped to raise four generations of children in her family as a trusted and reliable babysitter. She will be dearly missed.

Delores is remembered by her children, Mavis (Dean) Steinhauer of Rochester, Minnesota, Linda Kontz and Rodney (Jeri) Kindt of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Jeffrey Kindt of Edgerton; grandchildren, Chad (Laul) Maranell, Michael (Kristi) Kontz, Trista Kontz, Wallace Kindt, Rachel Kindt, Shana Kindt; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Vernon Kortleever; sister, Carol Wyffels; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell; parents, John and Myrtle; and sisters, Lavonne (Merlyn) Schmidt and Barbara Lape; and brothers, Wilbert “Bud” (Hazel), Merlyn (Connie), Elmer (Joanne), Orlan, and Harold Kortleever.

Services for Delores will be private due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hartquist Funeral Home - Luverne Chapel. Please return as a recording of Delores' funeral service will appear here as soon as it becomes available.
