Dennis Ervin Stueven

March 30, 1952 — June 7, 2011

On March 30, 1952, a baby boy was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. His first ten weeks of live were spent with foster parents associated with the Lutheran Children’s Friend Society. On May 10, 1952, his adoptive parents, Ervin and Lois (Ward) Stueven brought him to his new home near Pipestone. He was named Dennis Ervin Stueven.

Dennis was raised on farms in Sweet and Troy Townships and spent all his school years in the Pipestone School System. While in grade and high school, he was a member of the Troy Toilers 4-H Club and had sheep as his project. While in high school, Dennis was a member of the wrestling team and also in FFA. Dennis earned many awards for his sheep, home improvement and judging projects. He graduated in 1971 and then attended Clover Park Vocational School in Tacoma, Washington, where he completed the cosmetology course.

In 1973, Dennis returned to Minnesota where he farmed with his dad a short time. He then farmed on his own north of Lake Benton, Minnesota for two years. Later he returned to Pipestone to work at Bayliner Marine and also with a road construction crew out of Marshall, Minnesota. In August, 1998, Dennis suffered a stroke and was admitted to the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for one month. He was then transferred to the Sogge Good Samaritan Home in Windom, Minnesota, where he passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at the age of 59 years, two months and seven days.

Dennis was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone where he was baptized on April 17, 1952 and confirmed on May 26, 1968. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool and card playing. He especially enjoyed vegetable gardening. He liked to can tomatoes, make dill pickles and freeze corn. He also liked to cook.

Dennis was married twice, but he had no children. He is lovingly remembered by his mother, Lois Stueven of Pipestone, Minnesota; his two brothers, Dallas Stueven and his wife Becky of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Desmond Stueven and his wife Rita of Verdi, Minnesota; his two sisters, Desda Nettik and her husband Keith of Pipestone, Minnesota, and Doretta Heidebrink and her husband Douglas of LeMars, Iowa; and ten nieces and nephews.
