Obituary for Donald Boeve

DONALD BOEVE was born September 11, 1926 in Hull, Iowa to Henry and Ella (Bos) Boeve. He was raised on the farm and attended country school. He served in the US Army during WW II where he was stationed in Japan from 1946-1947. He married Joan Vanden Oever on January 18, 1950 near Hull, Iowa. Following their marriage, the couple made their home on a farm near Hills, Minnesota where they farmed for the next 61 years. On June 9, 2011, Don passed away peacefully at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage in Luverne, Minnesota at the age of 84 years, 8 months, and 28 days.

Don was a member of the Steen Reformed Church in Steen, Minnesota where he served as Elder, Deacon, and was Treasurer of the Sunday School. Donald enjoyed farming all his life. He took great pride in restoring his Oliver tractor. He also enjoyed following the Minnesota Twins and attended several games throughout the years. He cherished the time spent with family at his children’s lake homes where he kept busy either fixing things, fishing, or just simply sitting. He always had time for his grandkids and was happy when he was able to attend their activities.

Don is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan; his children, Dennis Boeve and his wife Darice of Hills, Sharon Hup and her husband Stan of Northfield, Minnesota; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three brothers, Albert Boeve of Luverne, Art (Henrietta) Boeve of Hills, Jim Boeve of Beaver Creek, Minnesota; four sisters, Dorene (Arnold) Hulshof of Sioux Center, Iowa, Lois (Bill) Oostra of Winneconne, Wisconsin, Eleanor Warntjes of Hull, Iowa, Helen Overman of Rock Rapids, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Arlene Boeve of California, Lois (Roger) Baatz of Rock Rapids, Sarah Boeve of Tyler, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Henry, Case, Everett, Merlin, Ervin, and Gary; a sister, Gert Leusink; four sisters-in-law, Cynthia Boeve, Darlene Boeve, Elizabeth Boeve, and Sharon Boeve; and three brothers-in-law, John Warntjes, Tunis Overman, and Gilbert Leusink.
