Donald H. Brockberg

May 24, 1936 — June 25, 2017

DONALD HERBERT BROCKBERG was born on May 24, 1936 to Herbert and Margaret (Kraft) Brockberg near Trosky, Minnesota. He was raised on the farm and attended country school through the eighth grade. Later in life, Don completed his GED. In 1955, Don enlisted into the United States Navy where he served with the Seabees Naval Construction Battalion. Upon his honorable discharge in 1957, Don moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he became employed at the Sioux Falls Stockyards hauling cattle. On February 10, 1968 Don was united in marriage to Annette Poor in Sioux Falls. Following their marriage the couple lived in Sioux Falls for a short time. Over the next nineteen years, Don and Annette lived in various places. During this time, Don worked for Midwest Cartage (IBP) and was a broker for Artex in South Sioux City, Nebraska. He also transported railroad workers for many years. In 2002, Don and Annette moved to Jasper, Minnesota. Don owned and operated H&K Rat Bait “Pipestone Products.” In the last two and a half years his health declined and on Sunday, June 25, 2017 Don passed away at his home with his wife by his side at the age of 81 years, one month and one day.

Don was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jasper. He enjoyed sports and was an avid golfer. He was very proud of his United States Naval service. Don also took great pride in keeping his yard looking nice.

Don is lovingly remembered by his wife, Annette of Jasper; four children, David Griffith of North Sioux City, South Dakota, Doug (Rose) Griffith of Sioux City, Iowa, Jodi (Jim) Hough of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Don Brockberg, Jr. of South Sioux City, Nebraska; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Joanne (Dave) Stueven of Lake Mille Lacs, Minnesota and Dennis (Kathy) Brockberg of Marshall, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Griffith; parents, Herbert and Margaret; brother, Delbert Brockberg; and nephew, Ryan Brockberg.
