DORIS LOUISE MILLER was born October 4, 1920 to John G. and Mildred A. (Belz) Henkel in Skandia Township, Murray County, Minnesota. She attended country school District #40 north of Balaton, and graduated from Balaton High School in 1939. After graduation she was an assistant telephone operator for Central Electric in Balaton for a few years, while also doing domestic work. On December 15, 1945 Doris was united in marriage to LeRoy Miller at Sillerud Lutheran Church, rural Balaton. The couple lived and farmed in Skandia and Lowville townships until 1977 when they moved to Balaton. LeRoy preceded her in death on March 10, 1997. In October 2008, Doris moved to Mill Street assisted living in Fergus Falls to be closer to her daughter and family. She later became a resident at Pioneer Cottages in Fergus Falls. On Thursday, January 9, 2014 Doris passed away at the Pioneer Short Term Care Center at the age of 93 years, three months and five days.

Doris was a member of Sillerud Lutheran Church. She and LeRoy enjoyed doing some traveling over the years. She also enjoyed gardening and making wonderful pickles. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the love of her life!
