Doris Mae Klindt

DORIS MAE KLINDT was born to John O. and Minnie (Meyer) Fritz on July 26, 1926 on a farm near Holland, Minnesota. Doris was raised in the Holland and Woodstock area where she attended country school. Upon completion of her education, she continued to help her parents on the farm near Woodstock, Minnesota. On June 21, 1946, she was united in marriage to Howard L. Klindt in Woodstock. Following their marriage they lived in Pipestone, Minnesota where they built their house and raised their children. During this time, Doris also worked at Feckers and then at Armours. Howard preceded her in death on July 21, 2001. She continued to live in the home they built together until August of 2012 when she became a resident at the Good Samaritan Village of Pipestone. Doris passed away peacefully on January 24, 2018 at the age of 91 years, five months, and 28 days.

Doris was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Pipestone and also served on the Pipestone Cemetery Board. She enjoyed dancing, cooking, sewing, embroidering, flowers, and feeding the birds. Doris particularly enjoyed spending time with her pet cat, Jingles, they were companions for 19 years.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Shirley Melges and her husband David of Spokane, Washington; two grandchildren, Gayle Melges of Denver, Colorado, and Jessica Melges of Spokane, Washington; one sister, Meredith Kellen of Woodstock, Minnesota and
one brother, Larry Fritz and his wife Cindy of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Doris was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Shirl Klindt; her parents; one brother, John L Fritz; and one sister, Lois Ripley.
