Doris Margaret Wulf Wollmuth

August 20, 1925 — November 30, 2012

Doris Margaret Wulf Wollmuth…

was born on August 20, 1925 to Chris and Crystal (Lund) Cornelson in Tyler, Minnesota. She was raised in rural Lake Benton and attended country school where she received her education through the eleventh grade when her family moved too far from the school for her to continue to attend. Following her education she was united in marriage to Alfred Erickson in 1943. The couple resided in Hendricks, Minnesota. They were blessed with three children, Connie, Kathie, and Jerold “Mike”. The couple later divorced. In 1946, Doris moved with her family to Pipestone, Minnesota. Doris was united in marriage to Henry Wulf in 1947. They made their home in Pipestone and were blessed with five children, Harold, Chuck, Sharon, Karen, and Lori. Doris was employed as a cook for many years at both the Playmor Supper Club and the Mayfair Cafe. She later owned and operated the Eagle Caf and eventually Ralph’s Tavern until her retirement in 1990.

Henry died in April of 1980 and she later married Leo Wollmuth in October of 1981. Leo preceded her in death in December of 1982. After her retirement, she continued to live in her home and enjoyed watching her family grow and was always there to lend a guiding hand. In September of 2010, she decided to move to an apartment complex in Lake Benton where she met new friends and connected with friends from her youth. She then transitioned to Falls Landing assisted living facility in Pipestone in July of 2012. She lived here prior to needing rehabilitation services through Good Samaritan Society in Pipestone. She was eventually hospitalized at Pipestone County Medical Center and transferred to Pipestone County Hospice where she died peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, November 30, 2012 at the age of 87 years, 3 months and 10 days.

Doris was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed crocheting, completing jigsaw and crossword puzzles and playing Yahtzee with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Throughout her life, she was a strong, independent woman and was proud of the many things she accomplished, in regards to her work and her family. One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she guided and encouraged as she had her children.

Doris is lovingly remembered by her children, Connie Popma of Brandon, SD, Kathie Miller and her husband Joe of Pipestone, Harold Wulf and his wife Barb of Ames, IA, Chuck Wulf and his wife Wanda of Mason City, IA, Sharon Woitaszewski and her husband Gary of Slayton, MN, Karen Blume of Pipestone, and Lori Delaney and her husband Brad of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter-in-law Rosalie Erickson of St. Ansgar, IA; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Bette Ramert of Lake Benton, and Robert Cornelson of Sioux City, IA.
