Dorothea K. Hamann

DOROTHEA KATHERINE HAMANN was born January 1, 1921 to Reverend Theodore and Dorothea (Siebrandt) Goehle in Steen, Minnesota. She was baptized by her father on January 16, 1921 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Steen and confirmed on June 23, 1935 at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne, Minnesota. She lived with her family in Steen, Ash Creek, and Luverne. She graduated from Luverne High School in 1937. Following graduation she began her career at Tri State Insurance where she was employed for over 40 years. On February 10, 1963 she was united in marriage to Theodore Hamann at St. John Lutheran Church in Luverne. The couple made their home in Luverne. They enjoyed spending time fishing and traveling together. Theodore preceded her in death on July 25, 2002. On May 2, 2011 Dorothea passed away at Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage at the age of 90 years, 4 months and 1 day.

Dorothea was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School for over 25 years, was a member of Women’s Society, Quilter’s Group, Circles and took part in many Bible Classes. She enjoyed volunteering at her church including working with the church newsletter and helping with Little Lambs fundraising. She also enjoyed volunteering in the community, needlework, flowers, and taking walks.

Dorothea is survived by her sister, Louise Beckman and her husband Lloyd of Brookings, South Dakota; two sisters-in-law, Leona Goehle of Tyler, Minnesota and Joanne Goehle of Hills, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews; and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; parents, Theodore and Dorothea; sisters, Ruth Groth, Magdalena Groth, Leona Holst, Emma Franz, and infant sister, Esther; brothers, Albert Goehle, Rev. Theodore Goehle, Henry Goehle, Herman Goehle, and Hugo Goehle.

Memorials preferred to Relay for Life, Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage, or St. John Lutheran Church.
