Obituary for Dorothy Ann Boehm

DOROTHY ANN BOEHM was born to August and Margaret (Wussow) Wittrock on October 14, 1922 on a farm in Pipestone County, Minnesota where she was raised and attended country school. Upon completion of her education, she worked for the neighbors. On August 15, 1943, she was united in marriage to Robert Boehm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone. Following their marriage, they lived in Miami, Florida where Bob was stationed with the army. When Bob was sent overseas during World War II, Dorothy returned to Pipestone. After Bob was discharged, they lived on a farm near Pipestone. During this time, Dorothy worked at a grocery store in Pipestone. In 1969, they moved into Pipestone. Dorothy then worked at True Value Hardware until she became employed in the Dietary Department of the Pipestone County Medical Center. Bob preceded her in death on September 18, 1984. After his death, she continued working at the hospital. Even after she retired, she worked there part-time until she was 74 years old. She became a resident at Falls Landing in November of 2008 where she resided until becoming a resident at Good Samaritan Communities of Pipestone in the fall of 2012, where she currently resided and where she died on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at the age of 93 years, 7 months and 27 days.

Dorothy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Pipestone where she participated in the Women's General Assembly. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Pipestone, her card club, and a neighborhood women's group. Some of her favorite times were spent at dances with her husband and friends. She enjoyed gardening from her flower gardens to her vegetable gardens. Dorothy also enjoyed preparing takeout meals for her kids after they had worked all day.

She is lovingly remembered by her son, Kenneth Boehm and his wife Karen of Pipestone, Minnesota; her daughter, Linda Van Hove and her husband Thomas of Little Falls, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Sheila (Michael) Buys, Wendy (Phil) Huisken, Teresa (Zach) Neises, Paul (special friend, Ali) Van Hove and Ted (Kristina) Van Hove; great-grandchildren, Tommy Van Hove, Taylor and Carter Van Hove, Kymber Buys, Kenley and Parker Neises, Brandon (Alyssa) Huisken, Brooks Huisken, Jake Huisken and Jax Huisken; two great-great-grandchildren, Brantley Van Hove and Tatum Huisken; one sister, Irene Tirrel and her husband Roy of Pipestone, Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her brothers, Walter Wittrock and LeRoy Wittrock and one sister, Clara Hillard.
